HOTB 084: Ask not what your microbes can do for you, ask what you can do for your microbes

In this episode, we explore the complicated orchestra that makes up the microbes in our body. There are millions of microbes of all kinds that keep us healthy, both inside our body and on our skin. Eating well helps them to help us.

HOTB 081: The cortisol- blood sugar connection

For most of us, the term “hormonal imbalance” makes us think of women who get emotional during their pregnancy. But hormones play an important role in glucose and fat regulation. Today I discuss how stress affects the hormones that can cause or control chronic disease.
I refer to a couple of articles in this podcast.
The first is an article about glucose metabolism:

HOTB 080: Food monotony 101

Is it possible that one of the countless problems with fast food is that it’s the same ol’ gray meat and that our brains are bored with it? And if so, could that be a partial explanation as to why we need more and more of it to be satisfied? That’s food for thought in this week’s episode.

Here is the link to the NPR radio program with Alice Waters, that I mentioned in the podcast:

As I mentioned in the podcast, the brand of hot sauce I enjoy is the bufalo brand of Salsa Chilpotle, which can be ordered online at mexgrocer.com.
